Contributor's comments: Four-square was a very popular schoolyard game when I attended Kyabram State School (Victoria) in the early to mid sixties. It was typically played by students in Grade 3 and upwards. The game was played in specially marked '4-square courts'. To the best.

Contributor's comments: This is a game that tended to be played by catholic schools in South Australia. My husband went to a catholic primary school in Port Pirie and said it was called "four-square". I undertook part of my primary education in a catholic primary school in Adelaide and it was also called that. It wasn't called that at the public primary school that I attended.
