Contributor's comments: This word has gained a fair amount of prominence around Sydney, from Lane Cove to the inner west, undoubtedly. Perhaps this is due to it's appearance in the film Pulp Fiction in 1995?
Contributor's comments: Gimp is not a regionalism in Brisbane. I have never heard it since I came to Brisbane 35 years ago.
Contributor's comments: I daresay the word 'gimp' would have appeared prior to Pulp Fiction, however, I can say that most people who attended school in the late 90s used the word in the hope that those who were the unintended audience of a comment would not have seen the movie Pulp Fiction (or, for that matter, have heard the word used before).

Contributor's comments: "Gimp" has been used for at least 30 years that I am aware of. Typically used in an offensive sense to describe a physically or mentally disabled person.
