hard-play

In suburban Adelaide during the 1980s, the 'hard-play' was an area of the schoolyard covered in asphalt/bitumen and used for ball games such as hand-tennis, netball and basketball. Running on the hard-play was eventually banned after one-to-many skinned knees: Hey, you left your bag on the hard-play.
